My Covid Thoughts

Before… it was easy to smile.
Now… it is too much of an effort.
Energy for the smallest of tasks
Cannot be found.

Nights are welcome… for the ensuing darkness
Is the safe time, bringing with it
The sweet release of sleep… of forgetting,
Until morning comes and it will all begin again.

This imposed mind storm of Covid-19,
Intense and ever present.
Bringing relentless sadness, desperate longing.
For the person you once were.

Poem#2

April 2020

Half-faced humans now walk the streets.
Masked and devoid of smiles.
Eyes that show visible evidence of fear.
Covid-19 is here.

A quiet panic can be felt,
In their hurried rush to escape the store,
From the fellow shoppers six feet away.
Covid-19 is here.

Homes have now become prisons,
Where once before..
Family and friends could come through the door.
Covid-19 is here.

What used to be..
Is now so hard to remember..
Because of the fact
That Covid-19 is here.
