The View from Seoul

Seoul, South Korea:

Korea is one of many countries with a significant number of COVID-19 infected patients.

COVID-19 started with people who have been infected from outside the country. Early on, people who have been infected did not realize that they had dangerous virus, and spread them around while traveling around Korea.

By late January, teachers were checking everyone’s temperature at the front gates of schools.  We also had to rescheduled lunch time to make the cafeteria less crowded.  As the virus became more of a problem, my school kept getting cancelled until February 12^th, the end of the school year.

Now, my school is going to begin again online on April 8^th.  It has not been decided when to actually bring students to school.  The school does keep giving out homework through the internet.

The virus did not affect my life that much.  I just do classes at home and do homework for most of the week.  I was a bit happy for the fact that I could sleep a bit longer and have some more time to rest compared to the days when I would go to school.

Our neighborhood is usually very crowded with cars and people, but now there are almost no people or cars outside. Most of the people that do go outside wear masks and try their best not to make contact with others.

I went out on Saturday.  There were barely any cars (see photo above).

But there were a lot more people using subways than I thought (see photo above).

There were also many people hiking, so I think that we are slowly tying to return to our normal lives again (before COVID-19 came).
