M.C., 25, a Deputy Press Secretary in Washington, D.C.

While the worldwide pandemic was spreading from city to city, I was working for the Department of Energy to amplify all the work being done at our National Labs to find a treatment for COVID-19. On March 13, I started to work remotely, and then on May 11 we slowly started to return to headquarters in Washington, D.C. I loved working from home, but the collaboration that happens in the office was lacking. Today, I travel across the country to champion all the work that my office does to fight the coronavirus.

While working remotely, I would make breakfast, go for a run, and take my morning calls outside. Now that I’m back to the office, I get up earlier and drive in without any traffic.
