M.M.C., 23, a nurse in Pasig City, the Philippines

I am a nurse at a tertiary hospital in the Philippines that cater patients with COVID-19. As a nurse handling such cases we are reminded and we are practicing proper usage of PPE’s to ensure our safety as well as the people around us. There are several cases of patients with COVID-19. Their survival depends on their condition and pre-existing illnesses. As I see these patients, I witnessed several deaths and recoveries as well. We, the healthcare workers, always do the best interventions that we can to promote healing and well being of our patients.

At this moment, there is a decline in the number of cases in the hospital as the government acted briefly to the spread of the virus. People in the communities especially those who do not practice wearing proper protective equipment (PPE) should still be cautious in mingling with other people so that we may not experience the 2nd wave because most healthcare workers are not living with their families anymore. Most of the healthcare workers live near the hospital or within the hospital premises already.
